There are several factors to consider when you decide who should inspect your home. First and foremost the inspector should be experienced and knowledgeable. Housing Made Simple’s Inspectors possess a level of training and experience second to none.
All Housing Made Simple’s Inspectors/Consultants are specially
certified through the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) and The
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This
is a unique status as there are only a small number of such certified
inspectors in the country. Housing Made Simple is also one of
only a couple of companies that FHA and HUD allow to train its
own inspectors. Of all the FHA/HUD inspectors in the nation,
Housing Made Simple has trained over two thirds of these inspectors
as well as each and every one of our own employees.
To gain this government classification inspectors must meet high standards of experience and knowledge. Such experience includes at least 5 years of successful residential construction experience in a supervisory role as a lead carpenter or contractor. Even with this expertise, they must go through intense training, testing and field observation. This level of assurance far outweighs the requirements of any association.
Other Differences…
- Training is ongoing for our inspectors/consultants as we take continuing education seriously. Technical training classes are held periodically throughout the year to keep our inspectors informed and up to date with any new methods, local codes and requirements, as well as provide a way for us to double check our own quality control.
- All Housing Made Simple Inspectors have at least five years of residential construction experience in a supervisory role as a lead carpenter of contractor.
- All Housing Made Simple Inspectors are certified FHA/HUD Residential Renovation Consultants. The requirements to become such a consultant far outweigh requirements of any inspection association.
- All Housing Made Simple Inspectors are salaried employees and are scheduled through a central scheduling department. This format insures a team effort as well as operational quality control, which is harder to attain when you sub-contract out to independent contractors.
